Sunsets

Walked around the neighborhood and noticed the beautiful fall color.
From the SD Reader: November's and December's picturesque sunsets and sunrises are no accident. This is the time of year when high cirrus clouds, often the precursors of storms, sweep throught our area with some regularity. When cirrus or other lofty clouds are present, low-angle sunlight bathes the undersides of these clouds in a crimson luminescence. This effect is most noticable a half hour to a few minutes before the sun rises and a few minutes to a half hour after the sun sets.

Purrsonalities: Our True Cats

Wooster is now about 16-years-old. His favorite toy is the little pink pillow, bringing it into the hallway or our bedroom, caterwauling and singing it's praises and batting it around.

In Memoriam: 1993 + April 14, 1999 + February 3, 2008

Percy started sharing a roof with us in 1999 at five years old. We adopted him from the Connecticut Humane Society along with Wooster and Puffin. Like older men, he has some health problems: arthritis, high blood pressure, slightly enlarged heart. Unlike most seniors, he doesn't talk about it all the time. He's very proud of himself, squeaking the whole way as he marches to the other side of the bed to climb up the three tiers of containers to sleep on the bed. He's still talking when he reaches the pillows. Yes, Percy, what a smart and wonderful cat you are!

With his buddy Ccino:  April 14, 1999 + May 10, 2012

Teeny tiny Puffin was a kitten when he joined us. The doctor said he needed to put on a little weight and he hasn't looked back since. Since being diagnosed with diabetes, we've had to severely restrict his crunchies.  He's off insulin now, but he still screams really loud for crunchies.  He seems to be alpha cat now and keeps out newest, Josie, in line if she barks or chases a cat (Wooster).

With his buddy Puffin:  May 1, 1996 + April 2000 + May 15, 2012

Cappuccino blended into the family a year later, he's such a sweet boy. A woman was bringing him into a pet store and my Dad took him home but couldn't keep him. The basement is not a place for such a handsome fellow. Good thing he demands to be brushed every day. He'll hop up on the couch or Larry's computer table and howl. A basic plastic comb works best to pull the loose fur that he seems to be producing at winter levels year-round. Ccino is a flame-point Himalayan with big blue eyes and a heart of gold. When he's playful, he joins up with Puffin in posse fashion and follows him around the house on some grand cat adventure.

Josie joined us a year ago after a friend couldn't keep her any more, so we went to the SD Humane Society to rescue her. We and the kitties have known Josie for her 7 years, so it should be an easy transition. She likes to play laser pointer at lunch and sometimes Wooster takes turns, she down the hallway and he in the kitchen.
